Design and development of traditional Chinese medicine prescription transmission system based on quick response code as an information carrier

ABSTRACT  Objective: To develop and apply the traditional Chinese medicine prescription transmission system based on quick response(QR) code as an information carrier,so as to improve work efficiency of outpatient traditional Chinese medicine dispensary.Methods: HIS and WEB system was designed and developed by Browser/Server mode using QR code as an information carrier according to practical demands.Results: The HIS and WEB system was established and put on-line.Totally 62 161 prescriptions were transmitted by the system,of which 51.74% were transmitted from the hospital to medical companies by the end of April 2017.Conclusion: With the QR code as an information carrier,and on the premise of network security,the system has solved the problem of electronic transmission of prescriptions,improved transmission efficiency and accuracy and realized bi-directional data flow,which will help users to know the status of real-time data transmission. With direct involvement of pharmaceutical information workers in the whole development process and in close combination with actual work,the software thus developed is obviously more practicable.
