Contents determination of zinc oxide and borneol in Tuojia ointment

ABSTRACT  Objective: To establish methods for content determination of zinc oxide and borneol in Tuojia ointment.Methods: Coordination titration was used for content determination of zinc oxide.The determination conditions were optimized through investigating the time and temperature of water bath,the amount of diluted hydrochloric acid and disodium hydrogen phosphate solution.The content of borneol was determined by gas chromatography.Separation was carried out on a DB-5ms capillary column(30 m×0.25 mm,0.25 μm) with He as a carrier gas at a flow rate of 1.0 ml/min.The column temperature was 85 ℃.The temperatures of injector and flame ionization detector were 180 ℃ and 200 ℃,respectively.The injection split ratio was 10∶1.Results: The average recovery of zinc oxide was (94.77±0.14)%(n=6).Borneol displayed good linearity within the range of 0.053 7-0.214 8 mg/ml(r=0.999 5) and average recovery was (96.34±0.74)% (n=6).Conclusion: The established methods could determine the contents of zinc oxide and borneol in Tuojia ointment rapidly,reliably and quantitatively,and could be used for quality control of Tuojia ointment.
