Establishment of system evaluation criteria for academic influence of medical institutions in pharmaceutical care based on bibliometrics indicators

ABSTRACT  Objective: To screen highly influential medical institutions in pharmaceutical care based on the bibliometrics of related literature in the past two decades in China, so as to provide reference for discipline assessment. Methods: All the literature of pharmaceutical care by pharmacists in domestic medical institutions from 1996 to 2015 were retrieved.The author unit affiliations were recorded and analyzed. Interactive map of inter-regional collaborations was drawn by using API software.Collaboration network of pharmaceutical care was illuminated and analyzed by Gephi software, so that the core clusters were selected. The influential evaluation criteria were thus established, and subsequently 50 high influential medical institutions in pharmaceutical care were selected. Results: Retrieved were 20 747 publications, covering 5763 medical institutions, distributing in 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities of mainland China.There were 14 208 and 3526 publications that were respectively related with academic collaboration and regional collaboration. Academic collaboration in mid and east part of China was closer, with Beijing and Shanghai at the core. Apparently, there was a core in academic collaboration in the field of pharmaceutical care, and of the 50 highly influential medical institutions in pharmaceutical care, 24 were distributed in Beijing and Shanghai. Conclusion:Medical institutions at the core were closely related with one another and played a vital role in the development of the discipline.
