Drug resistance of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and utilization of anti-tuberculosis drugs in the General Hospital of Shanghai Prison from 2015 to 2017

ABSTRACT  Objective: To explore the drug resistance of Mycobacterium tuberculosis(M.TB) and utilization of anti-tuberculosis drugs in inpatients of the General Hospital of Shanghai Prison,so as to provide reference for the tuberculosis control of the disease in prisons. Methods: Analyses were made on the drug resistance of M.TB, frequency of drug use(DDDs), defined daily cost (DDC), drug utilization index (DUI) and ordering ratio(B/A) of anti-tuberculosis drugs in the hospital from 2015 to 2017. Results: Rates of drug resistance and multi-drug resistance were 35.8% and 7.5% in 106 strains of M.TB. From 2015 to 2017, the consumption sum of anti-tuberculosis drugs increased year by year, the DDDs generally displayed a decreased trend and levofloxacin injection ranked first in DDC. The DUIs of the anti-tuberculosis drugs were all about 1. Conclusion: The utilization of anti-tuberculosis drugs was generally rational in the hospital. However, with the price of anti-tuberculosis drugs increasing year by year, prisons also have to bear a heavy burden for tuberculosis control.
