ABSTRACT  Cell-mediated drug delivery systems employ specific cells as drug carriers to transport therapeutic and diagnostic agents to the lesion by using the natural functions of cells. This article focuses on the research advances of red blood cells,immunological cells,stem cells and tumor cells as drug carriers in recent years,and also introduces strategies that have been elaborated for loading cells with drugs.
