Endothelial protection and anti-platelet aggregation activities of Ficus tsiangii extracts

ABSTRACT  Objective: To investigate the protective effects of Ficus tsiangii extracts on oxidative injuries of endothelial cells by H2O2,anti-oxidant activity in vitro and anti-platelet aggregation activity.Methods: Endothelial cells were incubated with F. tsiangii extracts for 1 h,and then were exposed to 150 μmol/L H2O2 for 4 h to induce oxidative injuries.Cell viability was determined by MTT assay.The antioxidant activity of F. tsiangii extracts in vitro was evaluated by a cell-free oxidation reaction.Anti-platelet aggregation activity of F. tsiangii extracts was assayed in the Born turbidimetric method using adenosine diphosphate(ADP) and platelet-activating factor(PAF) as inducers.Results: F. tsiangii extracts could protect endothelial cells from H2O2-induced oxidative damages,lower the concentrations of oxidative products and also moderately inhibit platelet aggregation.Conclusion: F. tsiangii extracts might have the effects of protecting endothelial cells from oxidative injuries induced by H2O2,and have anti-oxidant and anti-platelet aggregation activities in vitro.
