Meta analysis of the efficacy and safety of sodium aescinate combined with mannitol for the treatment of cerebral hemorrhage

ABSTRACT  Objective:To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of sodium aescinate combined with mannitol for the treatment of cerebral hemorrhage,by the access of meta analysis and on the basis of current clinical research,so as to provide evidence for clinical treatment of cerebral hemorrhage.Methods:Computer-aided information retrieval was performed for the study, and in accordance with related inclusion and exclusion criteria,the retrieved data were used to screen those clinical randomized controlled trials concerning treatment of cerebral hemorrhage by aescinate combined with mannitol.Following data retrieval and quality evaluation,meta analysis was performed by using Rev Man 5.3 software.Results:A total of 29 clinical randomized controlled trials were included in the study,including 3015 patients and the quality of literature was all grade C.Meta analysis indicated that there were significant differences in the reduction of neurological function deficit scores,improvement of clinical efficacy, reduction of cerebral hematoma volume and decrease of the rate of adverse drug reactions (ADRs),when the experimental group was compared with the control group.However,there were only 2 reports concerning cerebral edema,and furthermore,no combined analysis could be made for accurate evaluation.Conclusion:Sodium aescinate combined with mannitol could effectively improve neurological function of the patients with cerebral hemorrhage, improve clinical efficacy and reduce the rate of ADRs.However,due to the poor quality of the included literature, this conclusion could only be used for reference,and large-sample and high-quality randomized clinical trials are still required for confirmation of the reached conclusion.
