ABSTRACT  Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of mecobalamin combined with traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) plus Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu decoction and acupuncture in treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN) with qi-deficiency-blood-stasis syndrome. Methods: 120 DPN patients with qi-deficiency-blood-stasis syndrome admitted to Shanghai Baoshan Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine from January 2017 to September 2017 were randomly divided into the control group, the TCM treatment group, the acupuncture treatment group and the comprehensive treatment group, each consisting of 30 patients. The patients in the control group were treated with conventional neurotrophic therapy (mecobalamin 500 μg,tid),the patients in the TCM treatment group were treated with plus Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu decoction on the basis of the treatment received by the control group, the patients in the acupuncture treatment group were treated with acupuncture on the basis of the treatment received by the control group, and the patients in the comprehensive treatment group were treated with plus Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu decoction and acupuncture in addition to the treatment received by the control group. The clinical efficacy,Toronto Clinical Scoring System(TCSS) scores,TCM syndrome scores, anxiety scale scores and adverse drug reactions were compared before and after treatment among the 4 groups. Results: The total effective rates of the TCM treatment group, the acupuncture treatment group and the comprehensive treatment group were all significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05),and the TCM syndrome scores of the TCM treatment group, the acupuncture treatment group and the comprehensive treatment group after treatment were dramatically better than that of the control group(P<0.05).The TCSS scores and anxiety scores of the 4 groups were significantly decreased(P<0.05) after treatment, and the decreased level of the TCM treatment group, the acupuncture treatment group and the comprehensive treatment group was significantly better than that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion: The combination of traditional Chinese and western medicine for the treatment of DPN with qi-deficiency-blood-stasis syndrome could achieve obvious therapeutic efficacy, alleviate clinical symptoms and anxiety, improve TCM symptom scores, and enhance overall treatment efficiency.
